Starting his career as a US CPA, Carl was in precision engineering for 20 years, latterly as Divisional President at both Senior PLC and Siebe PLC (now Schneider Electric) with a focus on aerospace, automotive, process automation and industrial controls. Carl then spent three years as CEO acquiring, running, and successfully exiting Adria Ltd, Ireland’s then-largest textile business, in an LBO on behalf of a Belfast-based private equity group in which he was a founding partner, achieving a 3-year MOIC of 6.5x. For the past 15 years, he has been investing in and leading early-stage technology businesses as CEO or Chairman in the functional nano-coating, remote-platform optometry, and Class III medical device spaces.
Based in the US, Carl has lived in Europe and Asia, and has dual US/UK citizenship. He joined Nova in 2025.
